Amir, the younger brother of Kabir Maharjan, who was rescued alive from a tunnel at the Trishuli 3-A Hydropower Project, said the family’s happiness knew no bounds after Kabir was rescued safely following 10 days trapped inside the tunnel.
Kabir had been trapped inside the tunnel after the devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa. A joint team of the Nepal Army and Armed Police Force successfully rescued him on Thursday. Speaking to Onlinekhabar after learning of the rescue, Amir said the family was overwhelmed with happiness.
Sharing his feelings with Onlinekhabar, Amir said:
Kabir Maharjan, who was rescued safely from the tunnel after 10 days, is my elder brother. He has now been taken to Chhauni Hospital. We are on our way to see him, but we have not met him yet. We are extremely happy to hear that he has been rescued.
There are no words to describe how happy everyone in the family is. It is beyond anything we can express in words. We are all extremely happy. All our friends and relatives have supported and helped us.
We are especially grateful to the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and all the rescue experts involved in the operation. We learned through the media that our brother was trapped inside the tunnel. Even now, we are getting updates through the media. We were not in a position to go there ourselves and search for him. We are extremely happy that he is now safe. He is an employee there and used to work at the project regularly. That was his duty station. We never imagined that something like this could happen. It still feels unbelievable. We are eager to see him as soon as possible. The whole family is now heading to the hospital.
