Nepal’s stock market extended its gains for a third consecutive day on Thursday, with the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rising 4.66 points to close at 2,542.
The index had gained 15 points on Wednesday.
Market volatility remained low during Thursday’s session, with the NEPSE moving between a low of 2,533 and a high of 2,545 points.
Trading turnover, however, increased moderately. Shares worth Rs 3.46 billion were traded on Thursday, compared with Rs 2.94 billion the previous day.
A total of 145 companies saw their share prices rise, while 123 declined and 10 remained unchanged.
The investment sector posted the biggest gain, rising 1.26%, followed by the trading sector, which gained 1.09%.
Other sectoral indices moved by less than 1%. The banking sector rose 0.24%, development banks 0.20%, hotels and tourism 0.09%, life insurance 0.08%, manufacturing and processing 0.46% and microfinance 0.27%.
Finance companies fell 0.34%, hydropower 0.23%, non-life insurance 0.28% and the “others” sector 0.36%.
