Kathmandu, August 29
More than Rs 5 billion has been deposited into the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for the rescue and relief of people affected by the devastating Bhotekoshi floods.
Prime Minister Balen Shah said Rs 5.04 billion has been deposited into accounts maintained at nine commercial banks.
According to Shah, an additional US$1.8 million has been deposited into accounts at Himalayan Bank and Laxmi Bank.
The funds have been collected to support rescue and relief efforts for people stranded and affected by the floods.
Shah urged individuals and organisations wishing to contribute to use only the government’s officially published QR code and bank accounts to ensure transparency and prevent possible financial fraud.
“In this difficult disaster situation, we request everyone to provide financial assistance only through the government’s officially published QR code and accounts under the names ‘Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund’ and ‘Prime Minister’s Relief Fund’ to ensure transparent use and proper management of assistance and to prevent possible financial fraud,” Shah said.
