Kathmandu, August 26
Police have arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly issuing a death threat against Prime Minister Balen Shah through social media.
The arrested man has been identified as Pushkar Dahal, a resident of Bhadrapur-9, Jhapa, who is currently living in Kirtipur. A team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested him from Kirtipur New Bazaar.
Dahal has been handed over to the Cyber Bureau in Bhotahity for further investigation and legal action.
According to police, Dahal had posted a message on Instagram threatening to “finish” Prime Minister Shah on September 8 and tagged the police in the post. He had also used abusive language against the police.
Police sources said Dahal is affiliated with the Ujyalo Nepal Party, led by Kulman Ghising.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged threat.
