Nepal’s Santoshi Shrestha won bronze in the women’s 5000-meter race at the “World Athletics Continental Tour Silver 2026” held Saturday in Bhubaneswar, India.
Santoshi won bronze by finishing in 17 minutes 31.75 seconds. Kenya’s Diana Wanjah won gold, and India’s Bharati took silver in the event, finishing in 15 minutes 16.11 seconds and 15 minutes 46.45 seconds, respectively.
Santoshi also holds the national record in this event, set at 16 minutes 36.61 seconds at the South Asian Athletics Championship in Ranchi, India last October.
Currently preparing for the 20th Asian Games in Japan, Santoshi has made history by winning a medal at a World Athletics Silver-level competition. She already holds national records in women’s athletics across the marathon, half marathon, 10,000m, 5,000m, and 1,500m events.
