Seven people have been charged in connection with the leak of a question paper for the first semester of Tribhuvan University’s Master of Business Studies (MBS) programme.

The charges were filed based on investigation reports prepared by the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police and the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB).

Those charged are Sandip Singh, 33, who teaches finance at KMC College in Bagbazar and Himalaya College in Koteshwor; Atul Kumar Mishra, 25, of Rajdevi Municipality-4, Rautahat; Abdul Sani Hakimi, 31, of Bara; Rishikesh Prasad Yadav, 30, of Bara; Khushbu Giri, 25, of Parsa; Devnath Mahato, 25, of Parsa; and Ranju Kumari Giri, 27, of Parsa.

Of the seven accused, Singh, Mishra and Hakimi, who were arrested during the investigation, have been released on bail.

CIB SSP Anupam Shamsher Rana said the three were released after depositing bail as ordered by the Kathmandu District Court.

A bench of Kathmandu District Court Judge Navaraj Dulal had ordered their release on bail of Rs 2,000 each. They were released on Tuesday accordingly.

The remaining four accused have not yet been arrested and have been charged as absconding defendants.

Police said their investigation has so far found no evidence of involvement by anyone else in the question paper leak.

The question paper for the MBS first-semester Business Research Methods (BRM) examination was leaked on July 24. The paper was reportedly circulated through a WhatsApp group before the examination began.

The CIB had treated the incident as a serious matter and conducted an investigation into the leak. However, the three arrested suspects have been released on bail of just Rs 2,000 each.
