Birgunj (Parsa), June 2
The mayor of Birgunj Metropolitan City, Rajesh Man Singh, was arrested today. Singh was arrested after 10 days of the issuance of an arrest warrant from the Parsa District Court. The arrest warrant was issued against him after a complaint over a forged document. Police held him from a hideout at Thori, Parsa, this morning.
Spokesperson at District Police Office, Raju Karki, informed that Mayor Singh was apprehended from Thori. “A special team was mobilised for his search. He will be produced before the court today itself,” Karki added. Singh has been facing a charge of issuing a fake document- giving a signature in the official papers for a birth registration, citizenship and passport for a girl.
On May 22, the Parsa District Court had written a letter to the District Police Office in response to a complaint lodged by Liyakat Ali, to apprehend Mayor Singh and three others and present them before the court.
