Kathmandu, March 30
From today, labour approval will be granted on the same day an application is submitted. Previously, labour approvals were issued in limited numbers each day through a token system, but this system has now been scrapped.
The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security had instructed the Department of Foreign Employment to end the token system and ensure same-day labour approval. Based on this directive, the department has arranged for approvals to be issued on the day of application.
The department stated that if the required documents are submitted, both labour approval and re-approval will be granted on the same day.
A meeting held on Sunday in the presence of Labour, Employment and Social Security Minister Dipak Kumar Sah decided to move forward with these reforms.
While discussing the government’s 100-point governance reform agenda introduced on March 27, Minister Sah directed officials to implement various action plans to make the labour and employment sector more systematic, dignified, and safe, and to protect workers’ rights and interests.
