More than Rs 4.1 million has been raised from abroad within a single day to support the medical treatment of Sabitra Bhandari “Samba,” captain of Nepal’s national women’s football team.
After Samba appealed for financial assistance for her treatment, she received over Rs 4.1 million in donations from overseas in less than 24 hours. As of the time this report was prepared, she had received 47,483 New Zealand dollars (Rs 4,113,808.76) from abroad.
Samba had previously stated that her treatment would cost a total of 80,000 US dollars. She has also received notable financial support from within Nepal.
She requires another complex surgery after suffering serious injuries to both the graft inserted during her previous ACL surgery and her MCL in her knee.
