Voting to select the new leadership at the 11th General Convention of the CPN-UML has been completed.
The voting, which began at around 9:15 am on Wednesday at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, concluded at around 6:45 am on Thursday.
A total of 2,263 delegates had been selected to vote for the new leadership. However, a 100 per cent turnout was not recorded.
According to Election Commission Vice-Chairperson Sanu Raj Pokharel, only 2,227 votes were cast. He said that 36 delegates were absent.
“A total of 2,227 votes were cast, and 36 were absent,” he informed.
Voting was conducted using 80 electronic voting machines.
The results will be made public today.
For the new leadership of the UML, KP Sharma Oli and Ishwar Pokharel are contesting with their respective panels. Those not included in either panel have also filed independent candidacies.
