Passenger Bus reaches Malkawang for the first time

A passenger bus has reached Malkawang, Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality-5 of Myagdi, located in a geographically remote location, for the first time ever.

Locals welcome the owner of bus (Dha.1Kha. 308) Jagat Dagami Magar, and driver Shyam Mijar, who reached Malkawang on Saturday carrying passengers from the district headquarters Benibazar, Ward Chair Amar Chantyal of Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality-5, along with people’s representatives, local leaders, mothers’ groups and youth club representatives were waiting to welcome the vehicle arriving at the place for the first time.

According to Ward Chair Chantyal, only jeeps, tractors and motorcycles had arrived at Malkawang so far. After five years of being connected to the road network, passenger buses have started operating to and from Malkawang. With the operation of passenger buses, locals now will been able to travel at cheaper fares compared to small vehicles.

Earlier, they had to pay Rs 1,000 per person to travel from Malkawang to Beni in a jeep. The fare for buses has been fixed at Rs 750 per person. The distance from Beni to Malkawang is 45 kilometers.

More than 300 households from Malkawang, Bhedikhaldah, Kuinekhani, Arwang, and Ghantiwang have benefited as a result. Chhantyal said that the road has been repaid and built to allow bus operation for at least eight months a year, except for the rainy season. Myagdi Yatayat Pvt. Ltd. will be operating one bus every day from Beni at 7 am and from Malkawang at 8 am.
