Police have confirmed the identities of the young boy and girl found dead in the Kankrebihar forest in Surkhet.
The deceased have been identified as 16-year-old Dipika Chaudhary of Khajura in Birendranagar–10, and 18-year-old Naresh Khatri of Kanaka Sundari Rural Municipality–7 in Jumla.
They were found dead at around 11:30 am on Monday in the Kankrebihar forest located in Birendranagar Municipality–9.
Locals who had gone to cut grass discovered the two hanging and immediately informed the police.
Following the report, a team of five police personnel led by Inspector Rajan Bhattarai from the District Police Office, Surkhet, was deployed to the scene, DSP Mohan Jung Budhathapa said.
According to police, the girl’s uncle Raju Chaudhary and the boy’s aunt Gita Khatri identified the bodies at the scene.
Further investigation into the incident is underway, Surkhet police said.
