Snow-covered journey brings Himalayan residents to Simkot seeking development

Humla, November 23

Residents from three villages of Limi in Namkha Rural Municipality–6, located across the Himalayan region, have reached the district headquarters, Simkot, to demand development.

They cleared snow around Nyalu Lake situated at an altitude of around 5,000 meters to make their way to Simkot.

Ward Chair Paljor Tamang of Namkha–6 said residents of Til, Halji, and Jang villages arrived in Simkot seeking development.

According to him, 15 women and 50 men reached Simkot to submit their demands. It took them seven hours to break and clear the snow-covered road near Nyalu Lake.

He said the group came as a delegation because their villages still lack significant development.

The villages face problems in communication, roads, bridges, food supply, health, and education, prompting the team led by the ward chair to travel to Simkot.

The delegation has scheduled a meeting with the Chief District Officer at the District Administration Office on Sunday to present their issues.

After that, they plan to visit the Hilsa–Simkot Road Project, the Infrastructure Development Office, and Nepal Telecom to raise their concerns. This is the first time such a large delegation has arrived from Limi to demand development.
