Biratnagar Kings opened Nepal Premier League Season 2 with a commanding 53-run victory over Pokhara Avengers in Kirtipur on Tuesday, powered by a record total of 220 runs.
Lokesh Bam (72 off 48) and Martin Guptill (61 off 35) shared a century stand as Biratnagar posted the highest-ever NPL innings score. Shubham Ranjit added 38, while Basir Ahmad and George Munsey contributed small scores.
In reply, Pokhara were bowled out for 167 in 18.5 overs. With a 59 runs Captain Kushal Bhurtel scored top score for Pokhara. Adam Rossington scored 39 runs. For Biratnagar, Pratish GC, Shubham, Sandeep Lamichhane and Merchant de Lange took two wickets each.
Biratnagar’s 220 surpasses their previous NPL record of 193 set in Season 1.
