22 people rescued from Narayani river

Chitwan, May 30

A team from the Armed Police Force has safely rescued 22 individuals stranded on an islet in the middle of the Narayani River near Shivaghat in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-16.

The group became trapped after a temporary dam, constructed to extract sand and gravel from the river, collapsed. Upon receiving the information, a rescue team including divers was dispatched from Armed Police Battalion No. 17 in Chitwan under the command of Inspector Chamanarayan Mahato. The team rescued the individuals using boats.

However, a tipper truck used to transport sand and gravel was submerged at the site where the dam broke.
