Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Sumana Shrestha is set to resign from her position as the party’s deputy general secretary. She is expected to submit her resignation at the party secretariat ahead of today’s scheduled RSP meeting.
Sources within the party confirm that Shrestha had initially intended to resign on March 30, the same day Rabi Lamichhane resumed his role as party president. Lamichhane is currently in custody over a cooperative fraud case.
Shrestha had earlier proposed her resignation in adherence to the party’s “one person, one position” policy. However, her proposal was deferred at the time. She has now confirmed her intent to resign but said she will formally present her views within the party.
