NEPSE: Stock market declines by double digits; turnover increases

On the final trading day of the week, the NEPSE index of the stock market fell by a double-digit 10.44 points. Following this decline, the NEPSE index closed the week at 2068 points.

As the index decreased, turnover increased. Yesterday’s turnover was Rs 3.4 billion, but today it reached Rs 3.87 billion. Of the listed companies, 52 saw an increase in value, 186 saw a decrease, and 8 remained unchanged. The finance sector rose by 1.82 per cent (42 points), while other sectoral indicators recorded declines.

Specifically, the banking sector fell by 6 points, development banks by 34, hotels and tourism by 49, hydropower by 15, life insurance by 82, manufacturing by 10, microfinance by 30, non-life insurance by 33, others by 7, and business groups by 20 points.

Kalika Lagufitta saw an increase of 7.7 per cent, Barahi Hydropower by 6.6 per cent, Goodwill Finance by 5.4 per cent, and Green Venture by 5 per cent.

Conversely, Kutheli Bukri Small Hydropower decreased by 9.2 per cent, Bhagwati Hydropower by 5.4 per cent, Global IME Microfinance by 5.3 per cent, Swabhiman Microfinance by 4.7 per cent, and Manakamana Smart Microfinance by 4.7 per cent.

In terms of turnover, Mountain Energy, NRN Infrastructure, CEDB Hydroriver, Pokhara Finance, and Goodwill Finance led the market.
