Dengue cases cross 10,000 in Dharan as local administration calls for public health emergency

Dharan, August 14

Local administration in Dharan sub-metropolitan city has called for a public heath emergency to be announced as dengue cases in the city have crossed 10,000.

The city, as of August 13 has 10,218 cases with an infection rate of 71 per cent. So far 11 people have died due to the infection.

Dengue infections as rampant in Dharan with most hospitals full of infected patients. The BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan and private health institutions are full as people have also been kept at make-shit wards in ward offices throughout the city.

The outbreak has even shut down schools in the city.

With a rise in dengue cases, the local administration has called the city to announce a public health emergency.
