Kathmandu, July 10
Arjun Chhetri, who claims to be an astrologer, has been arrested on the charge of deceiving people.
A police team deployed from Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority and Metropolitan Crime Division arrested Chhetri, acting on a tip-off. Police say Chhetri had deceived many people claiming himself to be a joint-secretary at the commission.
He had demanded Rs 40 million as bribe claiming the Nepal Electricity Authority’s procurement of a piece of land involved irregularities. Later, Chhetri and the concerned party had agreed to settle the issue with Rs 5 million in bribe, it has been learned.
In June last year, Chhetri was arrested on the charge of terrorising the public claiming a big earthquake was approaching.
