Kathmandu, January 8
Nepal has asked China to share with it weather data from its Tibetan Autonomous Region.
Nepal shares a 1,500km long border with China and the data plays a crucial role during emergencies, Nepali officials have told their Chinese counterparts.
The request was made during meeting between water resources minister Barsa Man Pun and China’s meteorology department deputy director general Chun Yungfeng in Singhadhurbar. Most of the rivers in Nepal flow from Tibet and important infrastructure is being built on the banks of major rivers and it is necessary to safeguard against floods that originate in Tibet, Pun told Chun.
