Nepal’s 17-year-old cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane, who is playing for Delhi Daredevils, took three wickets during his team’s match against Mumbai Indians in their last group stage match yesterday, receiving appreciation from Nepali cricket fans across the world. Therefore, all newspapers published from Kathmandu on Monday have published news about his performance and/or his photograph on their front pages today.
Naya Patrika informs that Lamichhane played for total 12 overs during three last games that he was able to play and he took 12 overs. His economy rate was 6.83.

Crackdown on foreign employment fraudsters

Kantipur, The Kathmandu Post and Naya Patrika have reported that the government launched a massive crackdown on businesses related to foreign employment after receiving complaints that outgoing migrant workers are being cheated by them.
The business companies force workers to pay huge sums of money for different tasks including passport acquisition and visa processing, police certification, medical registration and checkup among others, according to Naya Patrika lead story. The report claims that the companies have defrauded employment aspirants of Rs 5.5 billion.
A joint team of the Metropolitan Police Crime Division and the Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu raided several companies in Kathmandu and arrested 48 persons, according to The Kathmandu Post.
Cabinet blocks Province 2 Chief Minister’s US trip

The Cabinet meeting held on Sunday morning rejected a proposal filed by Province 2 government to let its Chief Minister Lalbabu Raut visit the United States upon an NGO’s invitation, according to Nagarik. The federal government has argued that Raut should not make any foreign visit currently as his government is yet to prepare annual policy and programme and budget for next fiscal year whereas the legislative body is still preparing to formulate vital laws.

Various leaders of the newly formed Nepal Communist Party have expressed their dissatisfaction over the new rank structure fixed for them. Of the miffed leaders are Jhala Nath Khanal, Bhim Rawal, Ishwar Pokharel, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, and Ram Bahadur Thapa. The leaders have expressed their displeasure on the jumbled-up ranks of the veteran leaders. KP Sharma Oli and Madhav Kumar Nepal are finalsiing the name of leaders for the top structure of the party, according to The Himalayan Times.
Embassies distribute scholarships without Nepal govt’s knowledge
The lead story published in Annapurna Post reports that various embassies in Nepal have been distributing scholarships to students without the knowledge of the Government of Nepal. The embassies should at first discuss with the Foreign Affairs Ministry and then the Ministry of Education to distribute the scholarships. However, only four embassies including those of Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Egypt and Thailand have been consulting with the government to provide scholarships.
20 ministers yet to make property details public

As many as 20 ministers including Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli are yet to make public their property details, reports Nepal Samacharpatra. The government employees should make public their property details within 60 days of appointment for the post. However, the spokesperson at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Binod Bahadur Kunwar, has said that the property details has already been provided and will be made public once the Cabinet meeting decides so.

Date proposed for PM Oli’s China trip
June 19 has been proposed as the date for the official visit of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to the northern neighbour, reports The Kathmandu Post. High level officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that both the countries have subsequently agreed that June 19 will be appropriate for the five-day China visit.
Likewise, both the countries will be discussing on the Keyrung-Kathmandu and Pokhara-Lumbini railways, cargo and transport supply through Tibet customs point, among others, according to Naya Patrika.

TIA to open 21 hours a day from today

The sole international airport of Nepal, Tribhuvan International Airport, will be operating its services for 21 hours everyday citing the heavy air traffic in the airport these days. The airport that had been operating for 18 hours till date will be expanding its services for additional three hours. Airlines told to compensate passengers for delay
The anchor story published in The Himalayan Times says that the Supreme Court has ordered airlines companies to compensate the passengers if the flights is delayed due to company’s negligence. The Court in its verdict states that the companies’ decision to delay flight due to uncontrollable circumstances is justified but recklessly delaying the flight is not. The court also directed the government to fix the amount of compensation for unjustified changes in the flight schedule.
