Kathmandu, December 14
UML chief and KP Sharma Oli and Nepal Workers’ and Peasants’ Party Chairman Narayanman Bijukchhe have agreed that the government’s bill to amend the new constitution to address the demands of the Madeshi Morcha is against Nepal’s national interest.
The two leaders also agreed that the anti-government protests should continue and the ruling alliance should be pressed to announce local elections at the earliest.
Oli was part of a UML delegation to meet Bijukchhe at his residence in Bhaktapur. He was accompanied by Agni Kharel and former Speaker Subas Nembang.
According to Nembang, Bijukchhe said that the government presented the amendment bill to divert the parties’ attention from election, and the opposition should understand this.
