Nepal’s Deputy Prime Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara is heading to Beijing later today as a special envoy of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

Mahara, who is to leave at 11 am, will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Joint Secretary Jhabindra Aryal. According to the foreign ministry, Mahara’s visit is aimed at creating an atmosphere for Chinese President Xi and Premier Li to visit Nepal at the earliest.

Mahara will return home on Saturday.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal had last week announced that he will be sending Mahara to China and another deputy and Nepali Congress leader Bimalendra Nidhi to New Delhi as his special envoys. Nidhi is likely to embark on his visit on Thursday.
