25 disaster incidents reported in Jhapa, Rs 3.42 million damage

Bhadrapur (Jhapa), August 20

Jhapa recorded 25 disaster-related incidents in Shrawan, including floods, landslides, fires, lightning strikes and wild animal attacks. The incidents caused property damage estimated at Rs 3.424 million, according to the District Police Office.

According to DSP Ranjan Awale of the District Police Office, two people were injured in various disaster incidents during the month, while three others were rescued safely.

Police said fires accounted for the highest number of incidents. Five fire incidents reported at different locations caused property damage worth Rs 1.93 million.

Similarly, 17 incidents involving attacks by wild animals were reported, leaving two people injured.

Lightning strikes also caused damage estimated at Rs 500,000, according to police.

DSP Awale said police personnel have been kept on high alert across the district in view of the risks posed by monsoon-related and other natural disasters.
