2-year-old girl missing in Kalaiya found safe after 12 hours

A two-year-old girl who went missing from Katti Parsah in Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan City-1, Bara, was found safe after 12 hours.

Bindi Mandal, daughter of resident Mukesh Mandal, went missing from her home at around 5:30 pm on Saturday. Her grandfather informed the police after the girl suddenly disappeared while playing in front of the house.

Residents found Bindi at around 5 am on Sunday in Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan City-26.

Salma Nesha, a local woman, informed the police after spotting the girl crying by the roadside in Siswa Maheshpur. DSP Min Bahadur Ghale, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Bara, said the girl was found safe about one kilometre north of her home.

According to police, officers, family members and residents searched for the girl throughout the night. Ghale said police intensified the search in possible locations after the family reported her missing on Saturday evening.

A security team, including trained sniffer dogs, under the command of Bara District Police Office Chief SP Narendra Kunwar, conducted a search throughout the night. Police also received assistance from the Nepali Army and Armed Police Force.

After rescuing the girl, police took her to the Provincial Hospital in Kalaiya for a medical examination. As her health condition was found to be normal, she was handed over safely to her family, according to the District Police Office, Bara.

Police said further investigation into the incident is underway.
