Kathmandu, September 23
Police have arrested two people accused of extorting money by instilling fear and issuing threats while claiming to be police officers.
Those arrested are 31-year-old Roshan Surkheti and 26-year-old Sanjay Bisunkhe, both of Basundol, Chandragiri Municipality-2.
Police said unidentified men entered a health clinic at Thankot, Chandragiri Municipality-7, on Thursday evening, claiming to be plainclothes police conducting a medical-shop inspection, and then intimidated and threatened staff before taking cash from the pharmacy counter and fleeing.
Upon receiving this information, police deployed from the District Police Range, Kathmandu, arrested the two individuals involved.
Police have obtained a four-day remand extension from the Kathmandu District Court to investigate them on charges of extortion (fraud), and further investigation is underway.
