Kathmandu, November 23

Nepal on Thursday were defeated by the United Arab Emirates by five runs in their match of the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Qualifiers in Bangkok of Thailand.

With the defeat, Nepal have a slim chance of qualifying for the Women’s Twenty20 World Cup. Nepal are in the fifth position of point table with just two points that they earned after rains obstructed matches with Thailand and Hong Kong.

The UAE had posted a 80-run target for Nepal. But, Nepal could score only 74 runs at the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs.

For Nepal, not-out Ritu Kanaujiya scored 22 runs for Nepal including two fours.

Opener Jyoti Pandey scored 12 runs. Other players could not make double-digit scores for Nepal.

In the first innings, the UAE had won the toss and chosen to bat. They made 79 runs at the loss of seven wickets.

Nepal will face Malaysia and China on Friday and Sunday respectively.
