Dhangadhi, September 24
The committee formed to recommend a name and capital for Province 7 has suggested that the state be named Far-west (Sudur Paschim), and the capital be based in Godavri-4, Attariya.
A majority of the members of the committee led by NCP lawmaker Tara Tamang were in favour of the proposal as Province 7 comprises districts that constituted the erst-while Far-western Development Region.
The committee’s recommendations will now be deliberated upon in the provincial assembly. The Nepali Congress and Rastriya Janta Party have said they are against the proposal.
