Kathmandu, February 8
One of the biggest electric car-makers in the world BYD Auto is set to launch its business in Nepal.
The China-based company has appointed BYD Cimex, a joint venture of Shangrila and TBI, as its authorised distributor for Nepal. Company CEO Anup Basnet says, BYD’s e-6 will be the brand’s first car to be launched in Nepal.
The launch of the an all-electric compact crossover comes as Nepali electric car enthusiasts have limited options in the local market.
Basnet says BYD decided to sell e-6 in Nepal as powercuts have been reduced significantly in the country.
According to the company, the e-6 can give up to 400 km when fully charged, and it has a top speed of 140 Km/hr. Similarly, it can accommodate up to five people.
The company has not disclosed the price of the vehicle yet.
