Taplejung fire: Central, provincial govts urged to extend support for relief

A meeting of the District Disaster Management Committee in Taplejung has decided to seek help from the central and provincial disaster management committees to ensure sufficient relief and monetary assistance to the survivors of a fire incident in Dobhan Bazaar of Meringan rural municipality.

The committee also agreed to provide Rs 15,000 each to the dispplaced families having up to five members and Rs 20,000 each to those families having more than five members, said Chief District Officer Umesh Pandey, who chairs the meeting.

It has been learned that 60 families have been rendered homeless by the Tuesday disaster including 27 families of tenants.

Any individual or organisation wishing to assist the survivors should reach among them through the local government, the meeting decided.

It has been learned that a team led by Province 1 Chief Minister Sher Dhan Rai is scheduled to arrive here with a relief package, according to CDO Pandey.
