The Samsung Galaxy M55 5G and Samsung Galaxy M15 5G are official in India. The Galaxy M55 5G is the top-of-the-line model for the M series for this year. Samsung currently has five smartphone series in their lineup. The Samsung Galaxy M series stands for Millennial and has got nice feedback. The M series is famous for its large battery size, performance and price.

The M55 is the successor of the Samsung Galaxy M54 5G and has got some changes like the display, chipset, camera, fingerprint, charging and battery. Currently, the Samsung Galaxy M52 is available in Nepal. The Samsung Galaxy M53 and the Samsung Galaxy M54 which came after the M52 didn’t release in India and Nepal. With the Galaxy M55 launched in India, it has a high possibility of being released in Nepal soon too.

Design and Display

The Samsung Galaxy M55 5G has a similar design to its predecessor, the M54 5G with the universal Samsung design. The triple-camera setup on the back has rings which have a shiny metal finish. The back design even though the Samsung universal design has the M-series with the curved back and the matte brushed frame. Available in two colour options; Denim Black and Light Green. The Black colour option has a matte gradient look whereas the Green option has a shiny gradient finish.

On the front, the Samsung Galaxy M55 5G has a centre hole-punch cutout which houses the 50MP selfie camera. The bezels on the sides are fairly thin whereas the top and the chin are a bit on the thicker side. The display features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, delivering vivid and crisp visuals. It has a resolution of 1080 x 2400 (FHD+) and has 16M colour depth. Its 120 Hz max refresh rate ensures smooth scrolling and fluid motion. It has a 90.1% screen-to-body ratio for an immersive experience. It has a peak brightness of 1000 nits which is bright enough in bright lighting conditions.

Performance and Storage

The Samsung Galaxy M55 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset, built on a 4nm architecture. Its octa-core CPU comprises one 2.4 GHz Cortex-A710, three 2.36 GHz Cortex-A710 and four 1.8 GHz Cortex-A510, providing a balance of power and efficiency. The Adreno 644 GPU delivers graphics performance-enhancing gaming and multimedia experiences. It runs on Android 14 with One UI 6.1. For security, it has Samsung Knox Vault to safeguard sensitive data.

The Samsung Galaxy M55 5G has two RAM options; 8GB and 12GB. The 8GB RAM is paired with the 128GB and 256GB storage options whereas the 12GB option is paired with the 256GB storage option. It also has external storage support via the Hybrid SIM Slot which can accommodate up to 1TB.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy M55 5G has a triple camera setup on the rear. It has a 50 MP main camera with an F1.8 aperture for clarity and detail in every shot. Accompanying it is an 8 MP ultra-wide camera with a wide F2.2 aperture. For close-up photography, it has a 2 MP macro camera with an F2.4 aperture. It has autofocus and optical image stabilization (OIS) capabilities for sharp and stable photos and videos. Additionally, it offers digital zoom functionality of up to 10x.

On the video front, the Galaxy M55 5G has support for 4K video recording at 30fps and 1080p recording at both 30 and 60fps. The smartphone comes equipped with an array of advanced camera features, including Portrait, Single Take, Pro, Panorama, Pro Video, Pro Video, Night, Food, Macro, Super Slow-Mo, Slow Mo, Hyper Lapse, Dual Rec, Single Take, object clipper and image clipper.

The selfie camera is a 50 MP sensor with an F2.4 aperture. It has support for video recording of up to 4K at 1080p and 1080p at 30 and 60fps.

Battery and Others

The Samsung Galaxy M55 5G is equipped with a 5000 mAh battery for long-lasting usage on a single charge. The battery department is something that the smartphone has gone down a bit with the M54 5G having a 6000mAh. The charging capability however has increased from 25W to 45W wired charging. Before this, only the Samsung Galaxy S series had 45W wired charging support. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6 for fast and reliable internet access across dual bands and Bluetooth 5.2 for wireless connectivity.

In terms of network capabilities, the Galaxy M55 5G supports both LTE and 5G networks for high-speed data connectivity. The smartphone features dual SIM support for added convenience. Audio is delivered through stereo speakers for an immersive sound quality. It is equipped with a range of sensors including an accelerometer, in-display fingerprint sensor, gyro sensor, geomagnetic sensor, light sensor, and proximity sensor.
