Kathmandu, Sept 21
The Department of Roads has been directed to complete road maintenance before Ghatasthapana to ensure convenient travel for people during the festival season.
A meeting between transport entrepreneurs and government representatives was held on Saturday at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, where the directive was issued, according to Punya Prasad Sitaula, Senior Vice-President of the Federation of Nepali National Transport Entrepreneurs.
The meeting also decided to request the Home Ministry and Nepal Police to effectively implement the decision to halt vehicle operations along the BP Highway during the night and to facilitate the opening of advance ticket bookings through discussions with the Department of Transport Management. This measure aims to ensure passenger safety.
Additionally, the Department of Transport Management was directed to ensure fair transport fares.
Attendees of the meeting included Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal, Secretary Keshav Kumar Sharma, Joint-Secretary Krishna Raj Panth, President of the Federation of Nepali National Transport Entrepreneurs Bijay Bahadur Swar, Senior Vice-Chair Sitaula, and employees of the Department of Transport Management, among others.
