The Redmi K series, featuring the K70 Pro, K70, and K70e, was officially unveiled during the Redmi 10th-anniversary event, garnering significant attention. The K series is currently exclusive to China and may undergo a renaming or be rebranded under POCO in the future.

Last year, the Redmi K series, comprising the K60 Pro, K60, and K60e, gained considerable popularity. The K60 was rebranded as the POCO F5 Pro for the international version. The Redmi K70 Pro and K70 stand out as flagship options, equipped with superior chipsets. On the other hand, the K70e serves as the mid-range option, expected to be priced under Rs 50,000.

The Redmi K70e shares the same design but differs completely in the camera department, battery and build quality. Let us see what the smartphone delivers.

Design and Display

The design of the Redmi K70e is the same as the K70 Pro and the K70. But there are many key differences in the smartphones like the weight, dimensions and build.

It has a plastic back and frame instead of a glass back and a metal frame. The frame has a frosted metal look. The camera module design is the same but the use of a smaller sensor in the main camera makes it look a bit different.

The Redmi K70e has a 6.67-inch display with an OLED panel and a resolution of 2,712 x 1,220. It has a contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1 and a peak brightness of 1,800 nits. It has a frame rate of up to 120Hz and a touch sampling rate of up to 2,160Hz with Ultra High Frequency PWM Dimming of up to 1,920Hz.

The display is equipped with a 12-bit DCI-P3 Professional primary color screen. Performance and Storage

The Redmi K70e has the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra chipset, built on a cutting-edge 4nm architecture under its hood. Its octa-core processor, clocking in at a maximum frequency of 3.35GHz, ensures good performance. The Mali G615-MC6 GPU takes care of the graphics processing. It runs on the latest Android 14 platform Xiaomi’s new HyperOS operating system.

The device offers two RAM configurations: 12 GB and 16 GB. The 12 GB RAM variant is coupled with either a 256 GB base storage option or a higher-end 512 GB storage choice. Meanwhile, the top-tier 16 GB RAM option is paired with an extensive 1 TB storage capacity.

Camera

Unlike its older siblings, the camera on the Redmi K70e has a higher megapixel camera sensor. But a higher megapixel does not mean a better camera. The main camera on the K70 and the K70 Pro is a 50MP lens with a larger 1/1.55″ sensor whereas the K70e has a smaller 1/2” sensor with a 64MP lens. The main camera has OIS also for steady images and videos. The remaining two are an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens with 120° FOV and a 2MP macro lens.
