Kathmandu, March 15
Nepal has banned websites and mobile applications that facilitate cryptocurrency deals, Hyper Fund and online betting.
Nepal’s telecommunications regulator, Nepal Telecommunications Authority, says it has directed all internet service providers and mobile phone networks to block their customers’ access to such websites and apps.
Earlier, the Ministry of Finance had asked the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to block such websites and apps.
Of late, Nepali authorities have been taking several efforts, one after another, to control such transactions. On the other hand, the central bank has launched a study to prepare for the introduction of its own digital currency.
