2024 NADA Auto Show: Exciting new electric two-wheelers launched at the event

The 2024 NADA Auto Show has showcased the future of the automobile industry in the form of electric vehicles. Electric cars have been the major attraction at the Auto Show this year. The two-wheeler market has also seen new electric and Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) models. The younger generation has quite the eye for the ICE engine. The electric two-wheelers on the other hand are also strong with some interesting new options.

There are a few new brands like Gogoro, Garow and E1A with their products. Other brands operating in Nepal like NIU and Zeeho have also added a new one in their lineup. The electric two-wheelers launched also have exciting offers. Let us see what new electric wheelers have been launched. \

1. NIU RQi

The NIU RQi is the latest addition to one of Nepal’s most popular electric two-wheelers. NIU has also completed 8 years in Nepal. NIU RQi is a modern retro electric bike with a ground clearance of 167mm and a seat height of 825mm. It is powered by a 7.5 kW motor with a peak power of 11Hp and delivers a peak torque of 450Nm. The bike accelerates from 0-50 km/h in 2.9 seconds.

It features two 18650 Lithium-Ion batteries with 72V36Ah capacity, utilizing the 4th GEN NIU Energy Smart Power Tech. The batteries weigh 23 kg each, with a charging time of 4 hours for a single battery or 7 hours for both giving a range of around 105 km. The NIU RQi is set to cost Rs 999,000 in Nepal.

2. Gogoro electric scooters

Gogoro is the latest electric scooter brand to set foot in Nepal through the 2024 NADA Auto Show. The Taiwanese company has brought revolution in the electric two-wheeler market with the battery swapping technology. Gogoro’s battery-swapping system is designed for convenience and efficiency. Riders can quickly swap their low batteries for fully charged ones at Gogoro’s stations. For the first phase, Gogoro Nepal is set to put 45 stations across the Kathmandu Valley and later expand it. The smart batteries communicate with Gogoro’s central system to track their charge and location, making the process fast and easy. This system offers quick battery changes, extends vehicle range, manages battery health efficiently and reduces the need for extensive charging infrastructure.

Three scooters were showcased in the 2024 NADA Auto Show including the Gogoro Pulse, Gogoro Jego and Gogoro Crossover GX250. The GX250 was launched a couple of months ago and the battery swapping services to strategic B2B partners like food deliveries and similar industries. The GX250 is more of a utilitarian electric scooter with a large storage capacity on the front and an 18-litre boot under the space.

The other two options include the Gogoro Pulse and the Gogoro Jego. The Pulse has a sporty look with a range of 170 km with two batteries whereas the Jego on the other hand is a simple electric scooter with round headlights and a range of up to 162 km. The official details and the price of all three scooters are yet to be announced and are set to be announced after Gogoro’s official dealership and charging stations are put up.

3. Zeeho AE4

The Chinese giant CFMoto’s sister company, Zeeho has launched its 3rd electric two-wheeler in Nepal; Zeeho AE4 at the 2024 NADA Auto Show. The ZE4 sits as the entry-level option behind the AE6, AE6+ and AE8. The AE8 is the flagship option with a maximum range of around 160 km. The AE4 has a similar design language as its siblings with modern features built onto it. It has a 2.4 kW motor with a 74V27Ah battery which can deliver a range of around 90 km.

It can reach a top speed of up to 65 km/h. It has features such as 31 litres of boot space, collision warning system, ABS, traction control and keyless entry. The AE4 is set to cost Rs 299,900 in Nepal.

4. Garow DT-60

The Garow DT-60 made a headline with its huge 350 km range. The electric two-wheeler became popular and has already got some nice feedback. The scooter has a lithium-ion battery of 48VV180 capacity with an IP67 rating. The motor has a rated output power of 2000W, a peak power of 4000W and a peak torque of 150 N. It has three driving modes; eco, driving and sports.

The modern styling and LED lighting further make the electric scooter appealing. The electric scooter can get a full charge in about 6 to 8 hours. The Garow DT-60 is official at Rs 365,000 in Nepal.

5. E1A electric scooter

Another electric two-wheeler brand setting its foot in Nepal is the E1A electric scooter. Brought by the Syamukapu Group, the E1A electric two-wheeler has a maximum range of around 120 km. The electric scooter is available in different colour options; red, light orange, neon green, grey, blue and dark green. The electric scooter can get a full charge in around 4 hours and a top speed of around 65 km/h. The electric scooter is available at Rs 320,000.
