Melamchi Municipality ward office vandalised

Kathmandu, July 31

Unidentified vandals set fire to the Ward 10 office of Melmachi Municipality in Sindhupalchowk on Wednesday morning, police said.

Following the attack, all documents and pieces of furniture in the ward office have been completely burnt.

According to police, the incident took place at 7.30 in the morning. Police personnel reached the ward office only after locals doused the fire. Ward chief Bhakta Bahadur Khadka said that all records maintained at this office had been destroyed. Khadka said he was surprised to see his office vandalised. “We did not receive any threats or warnings before the incident,” said Khadka.

Melamchi Police Inspector Mahendra Darnal said that evidence suggested that the vandals broke into the office and set it on fire. He said that an investigation is on.
