Pokhara, May 26
The CPN-UML’s Man Bahadur GC has become elected the Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City by defeating Ramji Kunwar of the Nepali Congress.
As per the results announced this morning, 12 days after the polls, GC garnered 40,423 against 46,473 of Kunwar.
Kunwar, despite getting the support from ruling coalition partner CPN-Maoist Centre, lagged with a difference of nearly 14,000 votes.
Meanwhile, Manju Gurung of the UML has become elected the Deputy Mayor.
Manju polled 56,448 votes to defeat Saraswati Gurung of the Nepali Congress, who was restricted to 44,338 votes.
Of total four metropolises which went to polls on May 14, results from Lalitpur and Pokhara have been published so far.
The Nepali Congress had won in Lalitpur.
Counting is underway in Kathmandu and Bharatpur.
