Yamaha’s XSR 155 is beginning to make its presence felt on the roads, attracting attention particularly among young riders and enthusiasts of retro-style motorcycles. The bike combines a classic design with modern technology.
While its exterior evokes the look of vintage motorcycles, the XSR 155 is powered by Yamaha’s popular 155cc engine.
Targeted at customers looking for distinctive styling, performance, city-riding comfort and modern features, the motorcycle is priced between Rs 534,900 and Rs 564,900, depending on the colour.
The XSR 155’s biggest attraction is its design. A round headlight, teardrop-shaped fuel tank and classic-style seat give it the appearance of a traditional motorcycle.
Despite its retro exterior, the bike comes with modern technology. It is powered by a 155cc engine featuring Yamaha’s Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology.
The same engine is used in other Yamaha models, including the YZF-R15 and MT-15. The company says the engine’s use in these established models gives customers confidence in its performance, even though the XSR 155 has a different design.
VVA technology helps deliver suitable power at different engine speeds. It provides better power delivery in the mid-range RPM band, which can be useful when riding through city traffic.
How comfortable is it for city riding?

The XSR 155 has a relatively upright riding position. Its handlebar placement and overall design make it suitable for navigating city roads.
Its compact size and balanced weight distribution are also expected to make it easier to manoeuvre through traffic and around corners. The bike is particularly comfortable for riders below six feet tall, according to the description.
USD suspension and slipper clutch
The XSR 155 features upside-down (USD) front forks and a rear monoshock suspension system, which help improve stability and riding comfort.
It also comes with an assist and slipper clutch. This makes clutch operation easier during gear changes and helps reduce unwanted rear-wheel movement when downshifting sharply.
A small digital display adds a modern touch while retaining the motorcycle’s retro character.
Mileage of 40 to 48 kilometres per litre

Fuel efficiency is an important consideration for customers looking at a motorcycle with a 155cc engine. According to the company, the XSR 155 delivers mileage of 40 to 48 kilometres per litre. Actual fuel consumption, however, depends on riding style, traffic conditions, road surfaces and maintenance.
The motorcycle also comes with modern features such as VVA technology, traction control and dual-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS).
Traction control helps reduce excessive rear-wheel spin on slippery surfaces, while ABS lowers the risk of wheel lock-up during sudden braking.
Prices vary by colour
The Yamaha XSR 155 is available in Nepal in several colour options. According to the company, the blue variant is priced at Rs 534,900, the red at Rs 544,900, the brown at Rs 549,900 and the black at Rs 564,900.
With its classic styling, modern technology and Yamaha brand identity, the XSR 155 is attracting interest not only among young riders but also among customers in the 30–40 age group.
The motorcycle combines distinctive retro looks with features and performance suited to everyday city riding.
