Optometrist entrance exam halted after question papers run short

Kathmandu, November 3

The entrance exam for optometrists, held by the Medical Education Commission, was halted after the question papers ran short. Candidates were taken out of the exam centre for some time.

According to the commission, additional question papers have now been prepared, and the exam has resumed. Commission Member-Secretary Hari Niraula said the exam was paused for a while because of a technical error.

Six exam centres had been designated for the optometrist exam.

According to Niraula, when the commission learned that the question papers were running short while the exam was underway, it asked the centres concerned to halt the exam for a while. He said a technical team was then mobilised immediately, the required question papers were arranged and the exam was restarted.

“Such technical errors can sometimes occur in the course of work,” Niraula said. “When the question papers fell slightly short, we held the exam for a while. After that, we sent the question papers and resumed the exam.”

Niraula said that about 1,500 candidates took part in the optometrist exam.
