The Shree Pashupatinath Foundation, which is active in Southern California in the United States, has contributed Rs 15 million for the relief and rehabilitation of people affected by the flood in Nepal’s Bhotekoshi area.
According to foundation president Bimal Shrestha, the amount collected for flood victims has been sent to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.
Shrestha said the foundation had collected US$99,064 (Rs 15.1 million) from the Nepali community in the United States for the flood victims.
After deducting bank charges, the foundation deposited US$97,875 (Rs 14.8 million) into the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.
At a program held over Zoom with the Nepali Embassy in Washington, DC, foundation president Shrestha announced that the amount had been sent to Nepal’s Prime Minister’s Relief Fund. Foundation officials, representatives of various organisations, and other dignitaries attended the program.
The foundation said various organisations active in Southern California, the Nepali community and generous people from other communities made notable contributions to this humanitarian campaign.
The foundation said that giving support while living abroad, and feeling a disaster in the homeland as one’s own pain, is an example of Nepalis’ patriotism, humanitarian sensitivity and social responsibility.
The foundation had also run relief and support programs earlier at the time of the earthquake in Nepal. It has expressed gratitude to the organisations, representatives of the Nepali and other communities, and well-wishers who helped in the fundraising campaign for Bhotekoshi flood victims.
