Kathmandu, October 27
Andrew Hyde, a filmmaker from the Sunshine Coast in Australia, has sent money raised from screenings of his film “Chasing Chaos” to help flood victims in Nepal.
He said he has already deposited A$3,000 from the proceeds of a recent screening in Brisbane into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.
Speaking to Onlinekhabar, director Hyde said the screenings held in various Australian cities have been successful. He said he will continue the campaign to raise support by screening the film in other Australian cities and abroad in the coming days.
Director Hyde said that although “Chasing Chaos” was not shot in Nepal, its story matches Nepal’s current situation. He said the film’s central message is that damage can be reduced if people join hands early to offer humanitarian support, rather than waiting for relief after a disaster.
Expressing happiness at being able to help Nepal’s flood victims through the film, Hyde committed to continuing this humanitarian campaign. However, he expressed sadness at the low turnout of audiences of Nepali origin at the screenings.
He hopes Nepalis will take part in significant numbers in the campaign in the coming days, since it aims to raise support for the Nepali community.
Meanwhile, NCX International is coordinating Hyde’s upcoming screening. The film will be shown at 6:45 pm on Tuesday, November 10, at the Dendy Cinema in Canberra. Audiences can buy tickets from the Dendy Cinema’s official website.
NCX International has urged the entire Nepali community in Australia to watch the film and support this humanitarian campaign.
