Wallets can be loaded up to 50 times a day during festive season

Kathmandu, October 16

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has increased the daily limit on the number of times money can be deposited into digital wallets, targeting the Dashain, Tihar and Chhath festivals.

Under the new provision, individuals will be able to load money into their digital wallets up to 50 times a day during the designated periods.

The central bank introduced the provision by revising its Unified Directive on the Payment System. Previously, individuals were allowed to deposit money into their wallets up to 10 times a day.

According to the NRB, the facility will be available from October 17 to October 25 and from November 7 to November 15.

The central bank said the measure was introduced to encourage the use of digital payment services for festive transactions, including the exchange of dakshina (cash gifts given during festivals).

The NRB had earlier urged the public to use digital payment methods when giving dakshina during Dashain, Tihar and Chhath.
