Former King Gyanendra Shah will observe this year’s Dashain in a simple manner. The Communication Secretariat at Nirmal Niwas said there will be no programme for him to put tika and jamara on the general public on Vijaya Dashami.
According to a notice issued by the secretariat, the former king decided to keep this year’s Dashain simple in view of the heavy loss of life and property, and the displacement of thousands of people, caused by August’s avalanche-triggered flood and the incessant rain in September.
The secretariat said there will be no programme to put tika and jamara to the general public on Vijaya Dashami this year.
