The government has directed the concerned agencies to keep essential services, including health, drinking water, electricity, telecommunications, airports, transport and hospitals, running regularly during the festival season.
The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers at Singha Durbar said it issued the directive at a press briefing on Friday.
Speaking at the briefing, Hem Raj Aryal, joint secretary and spokesperson at the office, said the agencies have been told to keep the necessary human resources, medicines and equipment ready so that essential services are not disrupted during the festivals.
“A decision has been made to keep the necessary human resources, medicines, equipment and emergency services ready so that health, drinking water, electricity, telecommunications, airports, transport, hospitals and other essential services continue to operate without interruption during the festivals, and so that citizens are not subjected to unnecessary hardship in accessing essential services. We have written to the concerned agencies about this,” he said.
According to him, the agencies have also been told not to cause citizens unnecessary hardship in obtaining essential services.
Spokesperson Aryal also said the government is preparing a draft procedure to make investment-related services simple, transparent, time-bound and predictable, in order to promote domestic and foreign investment.
“A draft of the ‘National Express Investment System Operation and Management Procedure’ is being prepared to promote domestic and foreign investment and to make investment-related services simple, transparent, predictable and time-bound,” Aryal said. “It is expected and believed that this will improve the investment system and thereby increase domestic and foreign investment.”
Spokesperson Aryal said the procedure is expected to make the investment process orderly and smooth and help increase domestic and foreign investment.
