Installation of a Bailey bridge has begun at Betrawati along the flood-damaged Galchhi-Betrawati road section in Rasuwa after an alternative temporary track was opened.
According to Infrastructure Development Minister Sunil Lamsal, work on the foundations required for the Bailey bridge had already begun alongside construction of the temporary track.
The foundations on both sides of the proposed bridge have now been completed, Lamsal said.
With the temporary track operational, authorities have accelerated the transportation of bridge components and other construction materials to the site. The materials are being delivered while the bridge installation work proceeds, according to Lamsal.
Once the Bailey bridge is completed, the main road connection to Rasuwa, which was disrupted by the floods, will be formally restored.
The bridge is expected to ease transportation to and from Rasuwa and restore road connectivity affected by the flood damage.
Lamsal said temporary arrangements have been made to resume traffic immediately, while long-term reconstruction of the damaged road infrastructure is being carried out simultaneously.
