Kathmandu, September 22
A 17-kilometre section of the Koshi Highway between Khandbari and Sabhakhola in Sankhuwasabha has been closed to traffic for nine hours daily to facilitate road maintenance and widening works.
The road section from Khandbari to Tumlingtar and Sabhakhola has been closed to traffic to widen and repair the existing blacktopped road, said Manoj Kumar Mandal, acting chief engineer at the Road Division Office, Tumlingtar.
According to the office, the road will remain closed from September 22 to October 16 for the widening and maintenance works.
Mandal said traffic would be stopped from 8 am to noon and from 1 pm to 6 pm daily to facilitate the works.
Vehicles will be allowed to operate from noon to 1 pm and from 6 pm to 8 pm, the office said.
The Road Division Office said the traffic restriction was imposed at the request of the construction company to ensure that the work is completed on time.
Migur Sherpa of Shri DS Builders/Super Like JV, Khandbari-3, said work was being carried out during the nine-hour daily closure. Vehicles can use alternative routes during the restricted hours, according to the office.
