Syangja, September 15
A 53-year-old woman who went missing after being swept away while bathing in the Aandhikhola River in Waling, Syangja, on Tuesday morning has been found dead.
Maya Pandey of Waling Municipality-9, Bhumre, was swept away by the river while bathing in the local Aandhikhola.
A joint team from the Waling Area Police Office and the Armed Police Force Nepal’s No. 30 Battalion Headquarters in Waling was deployed to search for her after receiving information about the incident.
According to DSP Ramesh Datt Awasthi, information officer at the District Police Office, Syangja, Pandey’s body was found stuck between rocks in the Aandhikhola at Shantighat in Waling Municipality-13, about four kilometres downstream from the spot where she went missing.
Security personnel recovered the body and initiated the necessary investigation, police said.
