Kathmandu, September 15
Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle is set to visit India on a two-day official trip on September 18 and 19.
According to sources at the Ministry of Finance, Wagle will travel to India on September 18 (Asoj 2) and return on September 19 (Asoj 3).
During the visit, Wagle is scheduled to hold meetings with Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal.
However, according to ministry sources, there is currently no programme for Wagle to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
During his stay in India, Wagle will also participate in an event organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
According to sources, discussions at the CII event will focus on attracting Indian investment to Nepal’s hospitality and wellness sectors.
Swarnim Wagle is also scheduled to address an event at the Delhi School of Economics.
The visit is primarily aimed at promoting investment in Nepal and exploring opportunities to attract greater Indian investment, according to sources.
The finance minister’s meetings with senior Indian officials are also expected to cover areas of economic cooperation and Nepal-India economic relations.
