One killed as EV catches fire in Chitwan

Kathmandu, September 11

One person was killed after an electric vehicle (EV) caught fire near Basanta Chowk in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-9, Chitwan, on Friday morning.

According to Chitwan District Police Office Superintendent of Police Rameshwar Paudel, the incident occurred at around 6 am on the service lane of the East-West Highway at Basanta Chowk.

The EV, bearing registration number Bagmati Province 01-030 Cha 5579, was travelling westward from the eastern direction when it caught fire.

One person inside the vehicle died after being trapped in the blaze.

Police said the body was found inside the vehicle after the fire was brought under control with the help of a fire engine. The identity of the deceased has not yet been established.

The vehicle was completely destroyed in the fire.

Police said an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
