Kathmandu, August 26
The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has directed domestic airlines to ensure ticket availability without increasing current airfares amid disruptions caused by the Rasuwa floods.
The regulator instructed airlines to make tickets available at rates below the maximum permitted fare and not increase existing prices, taking into account the current emergency situation.
Several highways connecting Kathmandu with other parts of the country have been closed or declared unsafe following the floods originating from Tibet, increasing pressure on air travel.
CAAN said airlines should facilitate passenger movement by ensuring adequate ticket availability and maintaining current fares.
The directive has been issued to Nepal Airlines, Buddha Air, Yeti Airlines, Shree Airlines, Summit Air, Tara Air and Sita Air.
The airlines have been asked to maintain smooth public transportation during the ongoing disaster situation.
